TSC Cast #029 | Against The Time
Marcio Gomes, the name behind the project Against The Time, is an example of an artist who played in the musical immensity, tied in on the other side a decade ago, he discovered the frequency capable of communicating with the side here, and it is through the emission of dynamic sound waves that his message is transmitted, causing us all to have a proof of what the possibilities of music is able to do.
He combines a timeless vision with experimental sounds, obscure textures, deconstructed rhythms and melancholic peaks, bringing the most intrinsic part of emotional music, always seeking to provide an eccentric and sensorial experience through multicultural sounds.
As a DJ, Marcio graduated from the renowned D-Edge DJ College course, after which he played in some of the most important clubs and festivals in Brazil, such as D-Edge, Club 88, Zeitgeist Club, Euphoria Festival and many more. In addition to having already made an international tour through Argentina, played at clubs and crews such as Bahrein, KIKA Club, La Ostia Groove Selection, Bombay Streaming Bar, Kraken BA and Tempest Stream Lab. Today, we welcome to our platform this rising and promising star.
Our pleasure to have you featured, Marcio. Tell us about yourself. Where did you grow up and what made you decide to become an artist?
Good morning! The pleasure is mine and thank you for the invitation. I was born and raised in a small city in the state of São Paulo and at age of 14 I moved to Resende, a municipality in the state of Rio de Janeiro where I had closer contact with music, mainly electronic. My decision to become an artist came naturally. I was already involved with the electronic music scene and I was always in love with it. I started DJing after I took a course at the D-Edge club and from there things started moving very fast.
When was your very first attempt in music production?
My first attempt was in mid-2010 while using Fruity Loops. At that time, I was producing a mix of house with tech house, but from today’s point I can say it was a constant evolution and I simply cannot imagine my life without breathing and living the techno music.
How would you describe the founding of your own personal sound and whose influences have been present during the process?
I have many personal influences ranging from Aphex Twin and Moderate to Tale Of Us, for example. I try to combine my contemporary vision with experimental sounds, obscure textures, deconstructed rhythms and melancholic peaks.
How do you gather inspiration from everyday life?
I don’t have something specific to inspire me, I simply sit in the studio and let things flow naturally. I think my inspiration comes from the passion of what I am doing.
How do you find ways to promote your music? Moreover, have you ever come across difficulties of any type?
I try to promote my music in specialized groups and through my friends. The thing is, when you have a small number of followers in social networks, I believe the promotion could be difficult. But, as your followers are increasing, things will get easier and in no time your music will spread itself.
Do you have any planned studio upgrades? What equipment are you working with at the moment?
At the moment I am not planning any studio upgrades. The electronic equipment here in Brazil really costs a lot. For now I am working and using a MacBook Pro, Korg Vocal Beats, Korg Volca Bass, Sennheiser HD 215 headphones and Ableton Live 10.
Tell us what’s next. Do you have any new upcoming releases that you want to talk about?
I have some releases that will be released earlier this year and a lot of other unreleased projects and collaborations.

What should your followers look forward to in 2018?
My followers can expect a lot of dedication. Lots of new music in a variety of ways. Lots of new sets, and maybe, if all goes well, a live set later this year.
