Karrusel will be held for the 5th time on 22-24 August 2024, and the festival consists of the three stages- Manegen, Tribunen and Balkonen. First headliner is Ben Böhmer, who will play a live-set on Thursday 22nd of August. Ben Böhmer is back at Refshaleøen since he played last 2 years ago
at Distortion Ø. He has countless millions of streams behind him and is considered the new big talent among them the very big German producers within melodic techno. He has recently changed his record label Ninja Tunes, which has acts like Bonobo and Helena Hauff.

The other 7 artists play on Friday and Saturday on the main stage Manegen, which has the well-known trademark carousel located in the festival’s sci-fi circus universe, in the middle of the forest. Palestinian Sama’ Abdulhadi plays on Saturday 24th of  August, after her well-streamed Boiler Room session in Ramallah from 2018, quickly became a household name on the international stage electronic music scene. Her imprint on the techno scene is a combination of her raw sound, sense for specially selected tracks, her fearless, activist approach and an insistence on spreading the word the rave underground scene in the West Bank in Gaza and out to the world. She has played on i.a. Coachella, Glastenbury and Primavera and the collaboration with Tom Morello from Rage Against The Machine. In 2023, she launched the global platform Resilience with, among other things, Richie Hawtin, where artists who have experienced marginalization, displacement and oppression can share their art and stories that are often ignored by the mainstream media narrative.

“We want to create a space where people can come together, forget their troubles and just dance, give back to the community and show them that even in the darkest times, there is still hope and joy to be found”. Her statement seems more important than ever.

Friday 23 August Anetha, HorsegiirL, X CLUB will play. and German Marlon Hoffstadt, who defines himself even as “DJ Daddy Trance – DJ Forum’s most hated Dilf”. He is known for his impetuousness house sound, and draws inspiration from modern trance, hard house and euro fast pace. After his two Boiler Room sets in the fall of 2023, he has exploded in popularity in the last six months, and he has bag full of punchy, “in your face” bangers when he plays in Denmark for the first time.

The German TikTok sensation HorsegiirL mixes club techno, happy hardcore and future pop. She makes her Danish debut at this year’s Karrusel, while her identity is masked by a horse mask big eyelashes and a heart-shaped white flash. She has created a universe around her in a short time the teenage colt Stella aka HorsegiirL, who sings about heartbreak and the deep emotions of existence, and who, despite the fact that she gallops out into the world and plays on the big stages, doesn’t forget to hold on all four hooves on the ground and return home to Sunshine Farms at the end of Rainbow Road.

French Anetha cultivates the new heavier techno sound with an experimental cut. She owns hers own label Mama told ya, where she has both created a free space for her own artistic work, but also in recent years has focused on helping new, talented artists, so that they can build up their career in a healthy way. Dance producer duo X CLUB. also plays DK debut and draw a line from 90s techno to future-oriented drum’n’bass with their Australian volcanic power.

On Saturday, in addition to Sama’ Abdulhadi, Dutch DJ performer and album-producing artist KI/ KI, who has had a residency at the queer club Spielraum, curated his own “KI/KI invites” series and played on i.a. Berghain and Awakenings. As well as the Amsterdam-based selector DJ Job Jobse.

With his contemporary club sound within house and techno, he contributes the slightly cooler Dekmantal- sound at this year’s Karrusel.
