Melt Festival is not only a festival, but one of a kind “roller coaster” experience taking place in the…town of Ferropolis, Germany. The festival is also known as the City of Iron, due to its location , which is the abandoned factory site at Ferropolis. The festival takes place in an open air dockyard glutted with industrial machines, towering over the skyline and creating a futuristic and apocalyptic view and feel of its kind. The organisers of Melt Festival tend to focus on a mixture of musical genres. The event’s organisers describe the music policy as ‘Electronic meets Rock, which pretty much opens the doors for all kinds of acts and artists’.
History of Melt Festival
The Melt! Festival dates back to 1997, when it started off as a small gathering from techno enthusiasts at Bernsteinsee Velten. In the beginning of its existence, the event’s organisers had to learn from experience in order to hit the festival’s very own identity and put its own stamp or for what Melt Festival is standing for. In 1998, the festival already growing bigger, had to relocate to Lärz Airport in order to shelter all of its visitors. Only 2 years later, in 2000 the festival once again changed location. The abandoned industrial site at Ferropolis became the new home of Melt! Festival. And indeed, the third location was the lucky one! The last peace of the puzzle, the perfect fit and the last ingredient for a recipe for success. The the new home of the Melt Festival, most certainly is the place that gives the festival its charm, uniqueness, and one of a kind party experience, like no other festivals.
