Awakenings Festival is without a doubt, one of THE highlights of the summer Techno Music festivals in Europe and throghout the World. The event organizers of ‘Monumental Productions BV’, the ones, who are also behind the 24hrs Awakenings parties in Gashouder, Amsterdam, Belgium, USA, Chile and other locations throughout the year, are the guys organizing the Netherlands based festival. Awakenings Festival is a two-day festival, held annualy since August 2001, at the very same location- Recreatiegebied Spaarnwoude, Amsterdam.
Awakenings can easily be named as one of the Kings of Techno Festivals, and the one that should always be on your Must-Go Festival list. The 2014 edition of the the festival was visited by more than 40, 000 people. One of the reasons for the growing interest in the festival is its expansion from 1 day to 2 days festival.
Going to Recreatiegebied Spaarnwoude, Amsterdam you will witness not 1, not 2 but 8 stages, with World class quality sound systems, and some of the best DJ’s putting them through the test! There are 2 Open-air stages, 1 Semi Open-air, 3 Tent stages.
The ravers have witnessed memorable performances by the Techno Heavyweights- Carl Cox , Jeff Mills, Dave Clarke, Loco Dice, Ben Klock, Nina Kraviz, Pan-Pot, Maceo Plex, Joseph Capriati + many others. The UK scene have been represented at the festival by the ones Dubstep Godfather, now spinning and producing House bangers, Skream, together withBreach, Pangea, and Warp Records only Speedy J.
The 2015 edition of the festival once again took place in Recreatiegebied Spaarnwoude, with the festival spanning over 2 days (27th and 28th of June). Some of the names from last year’s lineup included Sven Väth, Adam Beyer B2B Ida Engberg, Nicole Moudaber, while the Live DJ acts included some of the best live acts in electronic music, Henrik Schwarz, Guti, Matador, and the best live act for 2015 by Resident Advisor, KiNK. This year will see Joris Voorn and Friends Stage, with sets from Joris himself, Kölsch, KiNK (live), Agoria, Andhim and other. Combi Ticket- includes entry for both days, Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th of June, at a price of 82,50€.
Single Ticket Day 1- includes entry for Day 1, Saturday 27th of June, at a price of 55€.
Single Ticket Day 2- includes entry for Day 2, Sunday 28th of June, at a price of 40€.
HOW TO GET THERE
Amsterdam Airport Schiphol notably is one of the busiest and biggest airport hubs in the World. It is located 15km south-west of the city of Amsterdam. Netherlands national carrier is KLM, recently it merged with AirFrance. Together with Delta Air Lines, the three carriers offer their services to nearly every destination Worldwide. On the other hand the low-cost carriers going to Schiphol Airport are, Easyjet, Jet2, Transavia, among many other.
Eindhoven and Rotterdam Airports are an alternative option if you couldn’t book a flight to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. A bus connects Eindhoven’s airport with the city’s train station (journey is about 25-30min and costs about 3€). From there, with one of the regular trains, it will take you about 1.20hrs to Amsterdam (cost about 17€).
From Rotterdam’s airport to the city’s Central train station, takes around 30 minutes and costs 2.50€. From there a train to Amsterdam takes around an hour and costs 13.40€.
Travelling by train with Eurostar, will cost you around 99 € and take about 5 hours for the destination London-Amsterdam. There are many different routes to choose from. There are several motorways leading directly to Amsterdam. A1 from the east- Germany. A2 from the south- Belgium. A12 from Arhhem (when you are closing Utrecht change to A2 northbound). A16/A27 from Antwerp through Breda is connecting to A2 south of Utrecht. A4 leads to Amsterdam from The Hague.
